PICTURE SPECIAL: Seaham art studio completes first exhibition

The Spectrum Cultural Hub at Lighthouse Studios, Spectrum Business Park, has completed its inaugural exhibition.

The exhibition space and studio, is run by Exhibit ‘A’rt, a non-profit organisation which works with multiple partners, including local schools, companies, community groups, and the local authority.

The exhibition showcased the individuality and expertise of the artists in a variety of disciplines. It featured examples of work from young people, as well as local and international artists, including well known sculptor Ray Lonsdale, whose First World War soldier sculpture, known as “Tommy”, resides on Seaham sea front.

Phil Barker, chief executive of Exhibit ‘A’rt, said: “The exhibition was very well received, and rightly so, there is so much talent on display from a broad range of artists.

“From the opening day we have had a stream of residents and businesses attending to see the collection and how it is benefitting the area.”

Spectrum Business Park also offers low cost studio space for budding artists, as well as modern office space for businesses.
