David is one of four businessman who were selected after winning the regional heat in the same category.

The 59-year-old will find out next week if he has won.

David said: “It is such an honour to make it through to the national awards. I was delighted to win the regional heat so anything else is a bonus.”

David’s daughter Kelly Vinnicombe said: “My dad has built his business up from nothing which shows just how hard he’s worked. He is really deserving of the regional award and fingers crossed he wins on Wednesday.”

Family business Bishop’s Beds is based on the South West Industrial Estate in Peterlee and employs 21 people.
