Callow to talk Welles at North East venues

Renowned British actor and writer, Simon Callow, brings his One Man Band tour to three North East venues next month.

The announcement of ’27 one night gigs’ follows the release of Callow’s latest book, Orson Welles Volume 3: One-Man Band, which was released in November and is the focus of the tour.

The actor said: “I love touring plays, but every bit as much as that, I love talking about my books in cities and towns across the country.

“I’ve found that people are fantastically warm and keenly interested. As in the theatre, each talk is entirely different as people react differently to the – though I say it myself – remarkable story I’m telling.

“Orson Welles was one of the most completely, improbably, extravagant human beings who ever lived. I’ve tried to make the reader feel as if they’d met him. On the reading tour I can convey that even more vividly.”

Simon Callow’s One Man Band show comes to Middlesbrough Theatre on 2nd April with dates at Durham’s Gala Theatre and The Sage Gateshead following on 4th and 6th April respectively.
