Spend the night in Durham Cathedral to end homelessness

Local Homelessness charity Depaul UK is asking people across County Durham to join a fundraising Sleep Out at Durham Cathedral.

The Advent Sleep Out takes place in the Cathedral on the evening of Friday, 16 December – and is aiming to raise £15,000 for Depaul UK’s emergency accommodation project Nightstop North East.

Organiser, Joe Kirwin said: “We are inviting people from across the County Durham to give up a night of comfort to show their support for the vulnerable, disadvantaged, homeless people who will be sleeping rough this winter.

“I’ve lived in County Durham my whole life and I could not think of a better venue that than the Cathedral for people to come together to help put an end to homelessness”

Depaul UK supports homeless young people across the North East, providing emergency accommodation and helping young people in crisis find long-term stability.

Over the past 12 months, Depaul UK’s Nightstop North East services has provided 1,294 nights of safe accommodation.

Depaul UK’s Advent Sleepout invites you to swap your bed for a sleeping bag and stone floor and experience what will be a unique and inspiring night.
