With just two weeks to go until Durham Adventure Festival, residents from across the county are being encouraged to come and share their own stories as part of the event.
The festival, which takes place from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 April, includes guest speakers such as ultra-endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont, who will tell all about his world-record breaking feat in 2017 which saw him cycle 18,000 miles around the world in under 80 days.
But it’s not only record-breakers who are being invited along – anyone who has had their own adventure is welcome to come and share their story at the basecamp area within Gala.
No story is too small – whether you’ve completed a gruelling charity challenge or tried out an unusual sport for the first time – the festival is the place for you.
Anyone interested in sharing their adventures should email firstname.lastname@example.org. Limited spaces are available on each day.
Other highlights of the festival include the chance to hear from speakers including mountaineer Andy Cave, runner Elise Downing and Dave Cornthwaite, who is taking on a series of journeys each using a different form of motorised transport.
The event, which is presented in partnership with Kendal Mountain Festival, also has a packed film schedule with short films from across the world on topics from paragliding to big tree climbing and everything in between, including a special family programme.
