Fun is set to get underway as Peterlee gears up to be transformed into a riot of colour, dance and circus magic when the carnival comes to town.
Castle Dene Shopping Centre is hosting its very first carnival on Friday, August 10, which will feature food stalls, fairground games, balloon modellers, Brazilian dancers, circus performers, stilt walkers and more to ensure there is something to keep the entire family entertained.
A wide variety of the centre’s retailers will be getting involved by offering freebies, discounts and demonstrations including Costa Coffee, Sally Beauty and family run confectionary store Sweet Dreams to name but a few. A number of local market traders will also be making an appearance at the event.
Suzanne Chaney, Castle Dene operations manager, hopes the carnival will be the first of many and will reignite hometown spirit in Peterlee.
“Everyone at Castle Dene is excited to be bringing this brand-new event to Peterlee and we are confident it will be much more than just a free family event.
“It is brilliant to see so many of our retailers and local traders getting involved in one way or another and I believe the carnival will bring some much-needed community spirt to the town.
“The atmosphere is set to be fantastic with such a great selection of live entertainment and activities and I look forwarding to welcoming everyone on the day.”
The Castle Dene Carnival will run from 11am to 4pm and entry is completely free. There will also be a free face painting and glitter station, free games tent and free craft area where children can make and take home their own carnival masks.
The event is part of Castle Dene’s expanding Kids Club, which is free to join and members benefit from being the first to know about the centre’s family events.
