A bistro restaurant which has been housed within a former public house in Peterlee has attracted hundreds of diners in its first week since opening.
Luciano bistro, located within what was the Oaklands pub on Oakerside Park, was unveiled at a grand opening last Friday evening, with dozens of guests given the chance to sample the restaurant’s menu.
The bistro restaurant has created around 25 jobs for people in the area.
Habib and Masoud Farrahi the owners of Luciano’s in Sunderland, decided almost a year ago to purchase the building and undergo a huge refurbishment.
They brothers felt the building was perfect for a new project, and as the area was right next to a beautiful nature reserve. decided it was perfect for another Luciano’s.
Upon purchasing the building, they decided to completely refurbish it and whilst the designs and plans were being drawn up, they rented the building for six months to the previous owners.
In January 2018, the previous owners left and Habib and Masoud got to work on the building. Each part of the building was fully refurbished with not even an inch of old wiring kept. They have incorporated handmade bar tops and facias, gas inflamed sumline fire and a cosy bar area.
A spokeswoman for Luciano said: “Masoud and Habib would like to that everyone who has wished them well and been a part of this huge project including Durham County Council for all their help and support.
“They hope many of their customers from the other restaurants will come to see this beautiful bistro which they have created.”
