Running enthusiasts are being encouraged to sign up for a weekly park run in Horden, which is aimed at bringing the community together.
The Corsford Field park run is held every Saturday morning, from 9am, and is open to people of all levels and ages.
The run by organised by a dedicated team of volunteers who provide a safe community spirited environment for people of all ages to participate by either walking, running or volunteering.
Event Director Kerry Barnett said: ‘The run is well attended by people from the running community who comment on the friendliness of the volunteers and the beauty of the course. But we would love to see more participants from our local East Durham community come down to see us.
“We welcome all participants whether you run or walk the course you will be well supported, we always have a tail walker to encourage the final finishers.
“Even if you don’t think you can manage the 5k we’d love to see more of the locals coming down to volunteer or just to chat. I think its important to say this is not a race and not just for runners.”
If you do want to participate please register at www.parkrun.org.uk to get your barcode number to ensure you get your result. This can be a great motivator for participants to see how their fitness progresses and helps us to process the results at the end of the event.
