People are being urged to get into the festive spirit this weekend and donate gifts to a campaign which supports families in need.
Santa’s Wish kicks off at Castle Dene Shopping Centre in Peterlee this Saturday, December 1.
The project, which was an overwhelming success last year, us run by town and county councillors with the help of volunteers.
They will be gathering donations of toys and gifts to deliver to families across East Durham who have been referred to them by social services, OnePoint centres or schools because they would otherwise have little or nothing with which to celebrate Christmas.
A spokeswoman for Santa’s Wish said: “The team will also be raising extra funds for the project through a raflle with donations from organisations like Halfords, Harvey Nichols, Waitrose and Marstons, plus lots of other prizes donated by either the councillors or the volunteers themselves.”
