A Sedgefield business is set to save money thanks to a grant from a County Durham energy efficiency project.
Bailey Group Chartered Accountants has received a £9,719 grant towards the cost of new energy efficient ICT equipment.
The grant was given by the Business Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP), a partnership between Durham County Council, Business Durham and the Federation of Small Business which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
BEEP supports County Durham’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to achieve financial savings by addressing energy efficiency.
The BEEP team carried out an in-depth energy audit to identify cost-effective solutions for the Bailey Group. This included advising on the replacement of ICT equipment with more efficient versions, drastically reducing energy consumption and generating financial savings.
The new equipment is projected to reduce the accountant group’s consumption by 40 per cent.
Martyn Penney, Bailey Group Operations and IT Manager, said: “We are delighted without new equipment and the savings we have seen since installation.
“Working with the BEEP team was straight forward and the paperwork was clear and concise compared to other grants. The support we received from the BEEP team was excellent, they’ve helped us make sustainable financial savings.”
Calum Baker, Durham County Council energy officer, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to support such a great Durham business like the Bailey Group. The higher level of efficiency being achieved is just one example of how our team has helped generate financial savings by identifying areas where energy is being wasted and presenting achievable solutions.
“The project offers grant funding, initial performance assessments and recommends potential actions for improvement.”
